NORTHSIDE UNITED METHODIST PARENTS DAY OUT
Northside United Methodist Church Parent’s Day Out

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God.” 1 John 3:1a

The Parent’s Day Out (PDO) is a ministry of Northside United Methodist Church. The program is offered Tuesday’s and Thursday’s for children from 8 weeks to 5 years of age. PDO provides a nurturing environment for play, educational activities, and social interaction in clean and safe surroundings.

Our goal at Parent’s Day Out is to prepare children for the school environment. Important social skills such as sharing, taking turns, following directions, cooperation, and respect for others are emphasized. In addition, learning to separate from parents and toileting are stressed for the younger children.

Each morning, every child in the program enjoys music with a music teacher. The music class includes singing familiar children’s songs, learning new songs, playing rhythm instruments, movement, and music theory. The 3-5 year olds participate in Christmas and spring graduation programs.

School readiness skills are an important element of the Parent’s Day Out program for the 3-5 year olds. Scholastic’s Clifford Preschool curriculum is used monthly and emphasizes social development concepts and science and social studies topics. Other educational activities that take place in the classrooms: letter, number, and color recognition, exploration of the five senses, cutting with scissors, recognizing rhyming sounds, sorting, and writing. Special activities include daily music time, guest speakers, field trips and opportunities for involvement in outside programs, such as KinderTot or Taekwondo.

Fee Policy
Fees are paid monthly and due the first program day of each month. They will be considered late if not paid by the 10th of each month. A $10 late fee will be added to your bill if your payment is received after the 10th.

Snack and Lunch
A morning snack is provided by the program. Children should bring a lunch that does not require a refrigerator or a microwave. Also, a drink should be included in their lunch bags. Please refrain from sending sodas or other high sugar drinks.
